Pros: FlvPlayer4Free is a FLV video player that can play FLV movies present in the hard disk or downloaded from the internet. Flash tools are not required. Easy to use functionality like drag and drop of the video files is supported. Drop the file/ folder icon into the main display area of the user interaction panel and the file starts playing.
Should you like a particular frame of the video, grab and save the same as an image file in JPG, PNG or a BMP format. Playlist editor opens as a separate pop up and has the necessary edit tools for adding file, directory, removing a file and so on. The display screen is resizable in two smaller areas and a full screen display. The display area has two rows of controls. The top row situated just below the display panel is all about control of play such as play/pause, stop, fast forward and rewind etc. The second row provides controls for toggling the play-list editor show, opening of media file, accessing the FLV URL, toggling of repeat, full screen, frame grab and mute controls.
Formats supported by the application are FLV AVI DIVX XVID MP4 MPG WMV ASF MPEG M4V MKV DVR-MS HDMOV M2TS M2T MKA 3GP 3G2 3GPP 3GP2 MOV QT RM RAM RMVB video files.
Cons: The play-list editor is a separate interaction panel. Particularly since it is kind of bigger than the main panel, it is slightly disconcerting. A panel opening up/closing on selecting/deselecting the editor would be a much nicer choice. Four small buttons on the right hand top corner are little too small and it is with difficulty that you can make out what they represent, particularly the when the leftmost button represent something that is not expected while the other three does- fortunately.
Overall this is a 4 star rated application.
